What can depression look like? 

Depression can look different for each person. However, there are some common feelings that are reported, such as feelings of sadness or depressed mood, not being able to enjoy things you typically enjoy, feeling excessively tired, feeling unmotivated, or feeling numb. Depression can be hard to detect for some, but can show up as: not being able to get out of bed, not being able to take care of responsibilities, wanting to be left alone, or difficulties concentrating on tasks. Depression is different from typical feelings of sadness that we all experience, in that the difficulties cause significant distress or difficulties in different parts of our lives. 

What can anxiety look like? 

Anxiety can look different for each person. But typical feelings include feeling anxious, tense, worried or overwhelmed. Anxiety can show up differently for different people, but concerns can include difficulties sleeping or staying asleep, not being able to concentrate on tasks, difficulties staying in the present moment, muscle tension, general sense of achiness, and/or irritability.
