What do you mean by changes?

Changes happen in our lives. They can be sudden or expected, positive or negative, personal or professional, local or global. Examples can include starting a new job or school, becoming a new parent, losing someone close to you, or moving to a new city. Regardless of its type, changes require us to adjust to new circumstances, which can involve feelings of loss. Individual therapy helps individuals make the necessary adjustments to life in a way that makes most sense to you.

What does adjustment look like?

This process can involve mourning the losses, accepting the changes, pushing for additional changes to be made in your life, changing our perspective, defining ourselves differently, choosing to act differently, etc., while being compassionate with ourselves as we go through this process. For example, a person might be struggling with the loss of a job. You may first allow space in your life to be sad or anxious about your situation, adjust by accepting economic or political factors that may have contributed to your job loss, or work to find another career path, identify factors that get in your way of finding a new job, etc. As you go through this process, it is important that you remain kind and supportive towards yourself.  The best part is that you do not have to go through this process alone, therapy can help.
